The purpose of the journal is to encourage and promote research in the type of aesthetics that draws inspiration from the phenomenological tradition broadly understood, that is, in the sense of reflection on, or within the relationship between meaning and experience.
In Aesthetic Pathways, “phenomenology” is not limited to intellectual practices associated with the historical canons of the so-called phenomenological tradition or its well-known representative thinkers. If contributions that discuss the classics – so to speak – of phenomenology are more than welcome, we would like to equally encourage research that go beyond the limits too often set by such a school of thought. Philosophy does not have to be name-centered in order to be recognized or even practiced. This applies to the spirit of phenomenology.
Importantly, more than a narrowly defined theoretical framework, the field of Aesthetic Pathways is defined in its close connections with the arts and culture, including the reality of human experience and its environment. Besides philosophical rigour, the journal puts emphasis on both creativity of ideas and precision of language.
We do hope that articles published in the journal will trace and show paths that can be trusted to lead somewhere unknown in the light of what we already know.
The language of the journal is English, but submissions in French and German might be considered for Special Issues with Guest Editors.
